Undergraduate Student Awards

The Irene E. Nordwich Foundation provides awards to undergraduate students registered in the College of Nursing, University of Manitoba. The awards are intended to:

  • Support academic excellence in nursing;
  • Recognize student leadership and involvement within their nursing program, university, the nursing profession, and/or community; and,
  • Ease the financial burden of a university education.

Awards are available to undergraduate students who have completed a minimum of 60 credit hours (including transfer credits) in a Bachelor of Nursing Program. A cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 is required for eligibility.

Preference will be given to full-time nursing students, with only one award during a student's program of study. Financial need, special life circumstances, demonstrated leadership, and a student's involvement in their college/university, in the nursing profession, as well as contributions to community service, are considered in allocating the awards.

The value of Undergraduate Awards is $3,000, although this amount may be adjusted at the discretion of the Foundation. The Foundation also determines the number of awards in any given year and reserves the right to post the names of recipients. Students who receive an award are deemed to have provided consent to have their names posted on the Foundation website.

The online Application Form will be available between April 1st and midnight on May 31st (CDT). Any live applications on the Foundation website time stamped past midnight will not be considered by the Foundation. Incomplete applications cannot be submitted through the online process. All decisions of the Foundation are final and are not subject to appeals.
